Vietnamese tall coconuts and dwarf coconuts 'went to Belarus to test bio-organic fertilizer on peat base

The two sides cooperate to develop the market for bio-organic fertilizer based on Belarusian peat for coconut trees in Vietnam, as well as consume coconut products in the Republic of Belarus.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, President of the Vietnam Coconut Association, said that on February 9, within the framework of the 21st Vietnam International Trade Fair in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam EXPO 2023), the two sides agreed to Coordinate research on bio-organic fertilizers based on Belarusian peat for coconut trees to increase productivity and quality of coconuts throughout the territory of Vietnam with 3 climate zones: North, Central, and South.

At the same time, we support each other to develop the market for consuming organic bio-fertilizer products based on Belarusian peat for coconut trees in Vietnam, as well as consuming coconut products in the Republic of Belarus.

Accordingly, the Vietnam Coconut Association will provide Belarus with two coconut varieties: tall coconuts (industrial coconuts) and short coconuts (drinking coconuts) grown in Vietnam along with the farming process and fertilizers being used. uses as well as the coconut development process each year.

On the Belarus side, there will be trial planting for 4 years for dwarf coconut varieties and 6 years for tall coconut varieties. In case of a successful test on the volume and sweetness of water for dwarf coconuts and the thickness and fat of coconut meat for tall coconuts grown in Vietnam, the two sides will organize a visit to Vietnam to discuss the matter. In addition, the Vietnam Coconut Association will coordinate with Belarusian partners to organize a workshop to introduce this country's bio-organic fertilizer for coconuts in Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Coconut Association, currently the country has 90 coconut and coconut-related enterprises, of which 42 enterprises produce coconut products. In particular, the coconut industry business community has boldly invested in technology, organic material growing areas, many hundreds of hectares of coconut farms were established in Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Binh Dinh... growth opportunities for exports in the coming time.

In particular, the provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh... have appeared many businesses growing, producing and exporting coconut products and coconut-related products. Currently, there are nearly 15 specialized coconut farms with an area of over 100 hectares each in the provinces of Long An, Hau Giang, Tay Ninh, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, and Binh Thuan.

In early 2023, the difficult economic situation caused the coconut industry to decline seriously. However, in the second and third quarters of 2023, the coconut industry received a lot of good news when coconuts were officially exported to the US market and some other markets. Europe country; China is actively considering letting Vietnamese coconuts enter the world's second largest market.

Currently, Vietnam's coconut industry has an important position in the world with an area of about 200,000 hectares. Coconut is a source of income for nearly 390,000 farming households. It is estimated that by 2024, our country's export turnover of coconut and coconut products is expected to reach 1 billion USD, possibly even higher, making the coconut industry a key production and export industry.
