INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR - THE NEXT STEP OF THE VIETNAM COCONEX INDUSTRY.

1. Objectives:

- The Vietnamese coconut industry has made a positive change in recent years, from a poverty alleviation tree to a national key industrial tree and has made significant contributions to economic stability, development, and improving the lives of farmers.

- In order to build and develop the coconut industry in a sustainable direction, adapt to climate change, adapt to market fluctuations and enhance the competitiveness of coconut products and coconut-related products of Vietnam in the international market, the Vietnam Coconut Association in collaboration with Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Betrimex) organized an international conference called The Vietnam CocoNext with the theme "Empowering Vietnamese Coconut Value Chain".

The event brought together prestigious coconut organizations, associations and businesses around the world to discuss the direction of strengthening and promoting the Vietnamese coconut industry to approach more international standards, creating a sustainable and modern future for the Vietnamese coconut industry.

- The conference is part of the goal of building the Vietnamese coconut tree - value and potential that has been built and implemented by the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Coconut Association in phase 2, period (2020 - 2030).

- The workshop aims to gain experience in building coconut value chains from countries with developed coconut industries, posing problems for relevant agencies in Vietnam to take more specific actions to create opportunities for businesses to invest in the coconut industry, create a healthy competitive environment and support the business community in production and business activities.

- Empowering is a compound word of the word power with the prefix em meaning to add strength and here is understood as raising the level

- Vietnamese Coconut: is understood as the Vietnamese coconut industry

- Value Chain: is the value chain

- Empowering Vietnamese Coconut Value Chain means: Raising the level of the value chain of the Vietnamese Coconut industry

3. Theme of the conference in 2024: Empowering Vietnamese Coconut Value Chain - Raising the level of the value chain of the Vietnamese Coconut industry

- Expressing the goal of the conference is to promote the comprehensive and sustainable development of the coconut industry. This includes improving product quality, diversifying processed products, expanding export markets and increasing added value for farmers.

- The event focused on discussing strategies, policies, solutions on technology and sustainable development to optimize each link in the value chain, from planting, harvesting, processing to marketing and distributing coconut products; thereby affirming the contribution to bringing the Vietnamese coconut industry to the international level.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the Senior Management Board of Ben Tre Import Export Joint Stock Company - Betrmex, major companies related to coconut, especially with the participation of Mr. Nuwan Chinthaka - Vice President of the International Coconut Community - ICC, along with representatives of the Ministry, Department and leading speakers on the coconut industry from countries such as: India, Malaysia, Philippines ....

The speakers delivered 09 presentations and 03 group discussions to share experiences and find sustainable solutions for the coconut industry in ICC member countries and expand.
