Implementation of the project "Biotrade for the coconut industry in Vietnam"
The Vietnam Coconut Association has coordinated with Biotrade Vietnam to build a foundation for a qualified coconut area called a bio-commercial project for the Vietnamese coconut industry. The project is partially funded by the Swiss Federal Economic Service (SECO) and implemented by the Center for Rural Economic Development (CRED).
The project with the goal of promoting sustainability in the value chain of the Biotrade project phase II through the participation of businesses, Business Support Organizations (BSO), governments , in order to create a good impact on the public interest. Specifically, the project helps businesses in the coconut industry to form a sustainable and circular natural material area and build a new business strategy, adapting to the new market situation and integrating with the global business community.
Specific activities of the project include: Training, consulting on building organic material zones, sustainable recirculating material zones meeting strict market standards. The Vietnam Coconut Association has cooperated with Biotrade to launch the Biotrade phase II program in Ben Tre on August 29, 2022. Training, support and consultancy activities in building organic material zones, environmental protection, climate change adaptation... meet UEBT standards (conservation of biodiversity through sustainable trade) sustainable products from natural materials), the project also organizes activities to promote brands, connect markets for businesses and improve people's incomes in coconut growing areas. The project continues to be deployed in other coconut growing areas in Tra Vinh, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen... to help local businesses organize production along the value chain, provide efficient supply, focus on deep processing. , high quality, to be competitive.
Orienting Vietnam's coconut industry to develop in accordance with natural and sustainable laws in accordance with the international convention on biodiversity conservation (CBD) and the principles of Biotrade, the Vietnam Coconut Association has signed a cooperation agreement Center for Rural Economic Development (CRED) on cooperation in project implementation activities in compliance with Biotrade's principles and application of UEBT standards for Vietnam's coconut industry.
